Festival of Lights at Longleat

I have visited Longleat house and Safari park a handful of times.

Mostly as a child, in awe of all the exotic animals and getting much amusement from the monkeys that climb all over your car, taking momentos with them.

I would have visited the Festival of Lights event if I had heard of it before, however up until about a month ago I didn’t know it even existed.

The festival is Europe’s largest display of Chinese lanterns, turning Longleat grounds into a spectacular sight and illuminating the house.

As you can imagine I took a fair amount of photographs, so sit back and enjoy.

There is a mix of traditional Chinese themed lanterns, as well as safari park animals dotted about.

There is even a musical Christmas tree that belts out Christmas classics every half an hour. We listened to the theme from Home Alone, whilst the lights danced on the tree to the music.

Part of the house is open with rooms themed around nursery rhymes and well known films.

There are Chinese shows throughout the evening featuring acts performing traditional Chinese acrobatics and skills, so there are plenty of things to keep you entertained throughout your visit.

If you are still waiting for that moment, when you finally start to feel christassy, you most certainly will after a trip here.

Only open until the 3rd January, so get and book your tickets.
